Project: Integrate and implement retail point-of-sale for Home Computing stores
Highlights: IBM, one of the largest and most successful companies in the computer industry, opened a chain of retail stores and factory outlets in Canada. Lorne led the team that was responsible for hardware and software integration, remote store communications, head office management, staff training and process / policy development. The initial project was six months in duration involving analysis, design and solution procurement. Subsequent implementation projects occurred for more than two years after the original project, each time IBM added a new store to their chain. The project team included IBM staff (purchasing, store operations) as well as vendor staff (systems integration, trainers, support staff and consultants).

Project: Develop / implement an online e-commerce solution for specialty printer
Highlights: CES is a successful wholesale printer of stationery products. Lorne led a team that analyzed, designed and is implementing a web-based e-commerce solution to market their products to both the general public as well as the printing trade. The project was assigned in three phases: 1. Needs Analysis and Solution Design (2 months); 2. Solution Development & Implementation (8 months); 3. Ongoing marketing and maintenance. The project included team members from the sponsor’s staff (executive, operations, IT, design & graphics) as well as from the vendor (program manager, lead developers, software engineers, marketing consultants, SEO engineers, IT consultants).

Highlights: Jubilee Solutions is a company that provides web sites, e-commerce and online registration solutions to religious organizations. Lorne has led the team analyzing solution requirements and developing / implementing the applications. In addition, Lorne provides executive leadership to the marketing and strategic development activities of Jubilee.

Project: Develop / implement an online retail management system
Highlights: Retail Port was established to provide retail management and POS solutions to specialty retailers on an ASP / web-based model. Lorne led the team that analysed solution requirements as well as development and implementation. The project duration was eighteen months and the team included marketing, operations, finance, lead developers, software engineers, quality assurance, IT consultants, retail consultants, trainers and support staff.

Project: Develop / implement an e-commerce solution for industrial supply distributors
Highlights: Compelis provided catalog and web services to more than sixty industrial supply distributors in Canada. Lorne led a team that analysed, designed, developed and implemented a sophisticated e-commerce solution for these distributors that incorporated purchasing, marketing and order fulfillment functions. The project duration was 2 years and had a team that included marketing, product vendors & buying group executives, design & graphic, lead developers, software engineers, IT consultants, quality assurance, training and support staff.
